The Umbrella of Iligan Photography Clubs (Hulagway Photographic Society, Clique of MSU-IIT, NPC Shutters Club, Litrato Photoclub of SMC) and Kodak Express and City Tourism Office invites everyone to join the “No-Photoshop Photo Contest” DIYANDI FESTIVAL SA ILIGAN 2013 PHOTO CONTEST
MECHANICS OF PHOTO CONTEST
1. Diyandi Festival 2013 Photography Competition will adopt the theme “IT’S MORE FUN IN ILIGAN.” Entries must strictly adhere to the competition’s theme. Photographs should be able to capture the unique facets of Iliganon culture, diverse fun activities, fiestas/festivals, etc.
2. The contest is open to all photographers, amateurs and professionals, residents of Iligan or not, provided the photographer can be present during the judging session.
• The contest has two (2) different categories namely; Religious and Cultural activities (except sports event). All pictures must be taken only during the 2013 Diyandi Festival from September 1 until October 7, 2013 only.
3. Each participant is allowed to submit a maximum of five (5) entries for each category. Entries of each photographer should be of different subjects.
4. The following photographs or images are disqualified:• Photographs that is digitally enhanced, cropping, or altered for creative purposes. Altered images refer to photographs manipulated and applied with special effects (colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, stitched panoramas, multiple exposure, high dynamic range or HDR images, etc.). • Photographs that violate a person’s rights including, but not limited to copyright and privacy.• Photographs that contain obscene, sexually explicit, offensive or any other objectionable or inappropriate content.• Photographs bearing images of public officials.• Effects achieved by using specialized filters (infrared, etc.), lenses (lensbaby, circular fisheye, etc.), and similar devices. But commonly used filters like UV, Skylight, Polarizer, and Neutral Density (including graduated) are allowed.
5. Entries shall be in color. Not black-and-white, not monochrome. Digital shooters, you can shoot either in JPEG or RAW+JPEG. You may not shoot in RAW mode alone. Turn off the date imprint in your camera settings but make sure your camera’s date and time settings are correct, If EXIF data will show that the image was taken outside the period allowed, the entry will be disqualified. Make sure there are no changes made in your digital photograph’s EXIF data. So avoid using special software in copying your images from flash card to computer, and from computer to your storage device that you will bring to the photo lab, which will affect EXIF data. Use only simple copy-and-paste commands when downloading images. Any indication of any software used that will appear in your EXIF data will be grounds for disqualification.
6. Registration is free but printing is not. All interested participants should register at Kodak Express Gaisano Mall, Iligan City from September 01-15, 2013. Please take note the deadline of registration is on September 15, 2013.
7. DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRIES ONLINE (i.e. Facebook, Google+, Flickr, Multiply) or show them to other photographers before the contest. Avoid posting outtakes too. Behind-the-scenes pictures are okay provided the subjects are not shown. Just so we can make sure the judges haven’t seen your picture yet.
8. Photographs to be submitted should have no watermark. There should be no identifying mark on the images to eliminate any bias during the screening and judging of the submitted photos.
9. Set your camera’s color space to sRGB, since our printer uses sRGB by default. If you insist on using Adobe RGB or other color space and color turns out bad, that’s your fault. Remember you can’t tweak anything after taking the shot.
10. Prints should be 8 x 11 inches. For Photographers using digicams with different aspect ratios (like 4:3, 16:9), you need to crop the edges to conform with the 3:2 aspect ratio. This is the only exemption where cropping is allowed, but only on 2 opposing edges, not on all 4 sides. The original JPEG file should also be submitted to Kodak.
11. There shall be a screening committee composed of the heads of the participating camera clubs and the sponsor who will check if the entries conform with the guidelines. Should there be complains against some entries, they can only appeal before judging starts.
12. Deadline of Submission of entries will be on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 7pm at Kodak Express Gaisano Mall. The entries to be submitted on deadline time should already have been printed, along with the digital files. If you bring only the digital files still to be printed, these will no longer be entertained. You can submit the entries in person or by proxy, provided that you will be present during the judging session starting 3 p.m. of October 11, 2013. Participants are required to be present during the judging, the point is for us to gather and have fun together, and for transparency. Entries of absentee photographers will be judged and rated as usual, but the photographers will forfeit the cash prize, which will go to the next in rank.
13. Judging day is on October 13, 2013 (Sunday) at CALDA in Pala-o, Iligan City at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
14. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING• The entries shall be judged based on the following criteria:a. Adherence to theme/Content 20%b. Creativity and Originality 20%c. Photographic Quality 20%d. Visual Impact 40%
• The decision of the judges is final and not appealable.

16. We will be inviting three (3) judges – one is a photographer, another is a visual artist or in a related field, and the third will be a layman.
17. Kodak Express will provide framed photos to the winners, with their names on it and information about the contest. Inasmuch as Kodak Express is our official sponsor of this event, all photos should be exclusively printed at Kodak Express. Photos printed to other photo lab will be disqualified.
Winners of the Video Montage and Poster Design Contest 2013

The judging of the Diyandi sa Iligan 2013 Video Montage and Poster Design took place this morning at around past 10 am August 17,2013 at the Iligan City Tourism, Bahay Salakot, Buhanginan Hills, Iligan City.
Comprising the Panel of Judges were Cecil Ong-Vice Chairman Promotions Committee, Nadijah A. Saldivar-Vice Chairman-Executive Management Board (EMB) Diyandi Festival sa Iligan 2013 and Chairman Promotions Committee Jenelyn Cawaling.
The criteria was based on: relevance to the Diyandi sa Iligan September month long festival; originality; composition and arrangement; technical attributes; and artistic merit, for the video montage it should have a length time of 90 seconds as long it highlights the city’s tourist destination, the religious activities, cultural heritage and the festivity of Senior San Miguel the Archangel.
The poster design winner; Choo Capri of Purok 7- Pala-o, Iligan City and Video montage winner Richie Saceda of Barangay Puga-an, Iligan City was announced by Sol Bacsarpa- Member of the Comittee on Promotion.
According to the EMB the poster design and video montage winning entry will be used for the promotion of the month long festival that will be launched tentatively on September 1, 2013 during a presscon of the Diyandi Festival sa Iligan 2013.// by: Irma S. Boza-Iligan Web.
